Adam Rush is a Principal with Meridian Consultants, joining the firm in 2024. Mr. Rush brings over 20 years of experience as a senior project manager, environmental specialist, planner, and executive.
Public Sector Experience
Mr. Rush began his career within the urban and environmental planning industry at entry-level with the Riverside County Planning Department. Mr. Rush was promoted to a Senior Planner in 2007, and Principal Planner in 2008, becoming responsible for over 30 professional urban and environmental planners, occurring during the pre-recession housing market boom of 2006-2008. Mr. Rush’s responsibilities shifted from managing the hundreds of active development projects to managing the implementation of long-range and strategic plans, including the County’s 5-year General Plan/Programmatic EIR comprehensive update. In conjunction with his planning career, Mr. Rush served eight years as an elected government official on the Eastvale City Council and served as the City’s first Mayor. In this role, Mr. Rush managed all the Real Estate and Land Development for a low-income and disadvantaged community that holds over 8,000 approved residential units.
Private Sector Experience
After more than a decade of public service, Mr. Rush joined a local engineering firm as the Director of Planning and Environmental Management, where he rebuilt the planning, land use, and environmental contract services in wake of The Great Recession. During his time in the private sector, Mr. Rush was exposed to a broad spectrum of CEQA projects from habitat rehabilitation, to preparing over a hundred Initial Studies/MND, to managing dozens of EIRs and EISs for large corporate clients. He expanded planning and environmental services to all four corporate offices from the Counties of Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside; from Long Beach to Needles.
This combination regional and local level environmental planning provides a well-rounded foundation of experience within all genres of environmental planning and professional project management. In addition to his extensive land use and environmental planning experience, Mr. Rush is also an experienced grant writer and manager. In this role, Mr. Rush prepared public-sector related grants including funding applications through Caltrans, the State Water Quality Control Board, and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Grant writing and project management included identifying, researching, and obtaining funding for significant projects at every level of government and non-profits. His aggressive and purposeful work ethic translated into millions of dollars for public sector clients.
